This is where it all began. After taking a sabbatical following 9/11, I stopped by Bill Moden’s house to learn a bit about welding before setting off to backpack through South America. As the flip-flops suggest, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I was completely hooked from the start. By week’s end, this clock was born. Built using a torch and stick welder, it reflects a more traditional fabrication approach that gives the piece its distinctive character.

At the time, I was living in London and made a promise to myself that when I returned to the United States, I would build my own workshop and continue pursuing the craft. More than 25 years later, I’m still creating, learning, and doing what I love.
